Privacy Policy

The short version: We use your resume and job description data only to generate your analysis. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models. Your data is yours.
1. Who We Are
SkillSync ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered resume gap analysis tool available at resumegap.io. We help job seekers understand how their resume compares to job descriptions and identify areas for improvement.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of data:
- Account information — Your name and email address when you create an account, managed securely through Clerk.
- Resume and job description text — Content you paste or upload into the tool for analysis. This is used solely to generate your results.
- Usage data — How many analyses you've run in a given month, your subscription status (Free or Pro), and timestamps.
- Saved reports — If you are a Pro user and choose to save a report, we store the full analysis snapshot (including resume text, job description, and results) in our database so you can access it later.
- Payment information — Billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number or banking details.
- Feedback submissions — If you use the in-app feedback tool, we store your message, feedback type, and email (if signed in) in our server logs.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data for the following purposes only:
- To run your resume gap analysis and return results to you
- To track your monthly usage against your plan limit
- To store and retrieve your saved reports (Pro users only)
- To process your subscription payment through Stripe
- To respond to feedback you submit directly to us
- To improve the product based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns
4. What We Never Do
- We do not sell your data to any third party
- We do not share your resume or job description content with advertisers
- We do not use your resume or job description text to train AI models
- We do not display advertising inside the product
- We do not send unsolicited marketing emails

Resume and job description text submitted for analysis is processed in real time and not stored unless you explicitly save a report (Pro feature). Saved reports are retained until you delete them or close your account. Account data is retained until you request deletion.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Export your saved reports at any time
- Withdraw consent for data processing

We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption in transit, token-based authentication, and access controls on all stored data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
9. Children's Privacy
SkillSync is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of SkillSync after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
